Fergie Frederiksen passes away

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing away of Fergie Frederiksen today.

Fergie was born Dennis Hardy Frederiksen May 15th 1951 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. His family had emigrated from Denmark to the United States more than 100 years ago.  Even though Fergie is best known for his time as a vocalist for TOTO, he has done a lot of other stuff too. Trillion, LeRoux, Frederiksen/Philips (one of my favourites out of his work), Mecca and David London (a solo album which he released under a pseudonym) are some to mention.  In 1999 he released his solo album Equilibrium to great reviews, and has collaborated with Tommy Denander and Frederic Slama.

Fergie was involved in a lot of charity work, raising awareness of Hepatitis C, an illness he had struggled with himself. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the most common chronic blood-borne infection in the United States. Fergie was known to have arranged benefit shows for the American Liver Foundation to help in the fight against Hep C.  In the spring of 2010 Fergie was diagnosed with liver cancer, and in of 2010 his friends arranged a benefit show for his treatment, with many great artists and friends stepping up to perform a very emotional evening of great music.
